Putting Grip

This golf tips is all about putting grip. Golfers use a variety of grips when they putt. Whether pro or amateur, their grips are almost as individual as each golfer is. Some use the same grip they employ for the woods and irons – whether the Vardon, interlocking or ten-finger “baseball” grip. As such, please use this golf tips wisely.

Take time forming your own putting grip. Just as in the full swing , the placement of your hands makes a big difference to your final stroke. Again, grip pressure is a matter of individual choice. Tom Watson, one of the best putters ever – even though he’s had problems with that aspect of his game in recent years – believes in varying his grip pressure. Watson favours his left hand, so he can guide his stroke with the leading hand. He exerts more grip pressure with the last three fingers of the left hand, plus the index and middle two fingers of the right hand.

Personally my own golf tip to you is I favour keeping the pressure from all the fingers and two thumbs constant throughout the stroke. Hold club firmly and yet lightly.

When I am having trouble with my putting, I often try to focus on my left hand for a time, in effect just slightly tightening my grip pressure with that hand in an effort to use it as a guide in stroking the putter towards the hole. I think about keeping it firm throughout the stroke. You can find more golf tips about putting grip by clicking here

Finally, when you are practicing before a round, do not hit 20 to 35 foot putts. Instead, hit several shorts ones. Putting the ball into the hole is the best way to gain confidence about your grip.

Another golf tips to you is consistency is the key. Experiment with every possible variation in your grip pressure on the practice green. But when putting on the course, make sure you maintain the same pressure throughout t the stroke. Any change while playing will distort your feel for the putting motion and may even pull your stroke off-line.
